Engagement Photos at Eberly in Austin, Texas

April 1, 2025

These engagement photos at Eberly followed an epic surprise proposal.

Tim wanted to plan a unique proposal for his girlfriend Jordan that felt personalized, intimate, and made her feel special. He remembered she loved the interior design at Eberly from a date night earlier in the year. Tim decided it was the perfect spot to make a new, unforgettable memory together.

He rented the restaurant before it opened for dinner and hired me to capture the big moment. Jordan was absolutely surprised when they walked into the restaurant and Tim got down on one knee.

After he proposed, the restaurant staff brought out champagne and we celebrated with some engagement photos at Eberly.

Eberly is a photographer’s dream. Every corner of the restaurant is designed intentionally and holds history. My favorite space is the study, where Tim proposed. Featuring books and a lot of hanging plants, it feels like a classy greenhouse. The crown jewel in Eberly, however, is the Cedar Tavern Bar. The owners imported the bar to Austin from the Greenwich Village in New York City. We took the majority of these engagement photos at Eberly in the Study and in the Cedar Tavern area.

I shot these engagement photos at Eberly on a mix of digital and 35 mm film. During the actual proposal, I used the digital camera to make sure we captured the big moment. As we wandered through the various rooms of Eberly, I incorporated the film camera to capture the timeless, nostalgic feeling I know they’ll want to relive for decade to come. The 35 mm film was especially perfect for the photos in front of the Cedar Tavern Bar.

Needless to say, Jordan loved Tim’s proposal. He successfully planned an experience that was thoughtful, well-planned, and intimate. I just feel lucky I got to bear witness!
