Just you, your person, and maybe a few close loved ones (plus your photographer, of course). The surrounding downtown architecture also makes for great portraits afterward.
2. Umlauf Sculpture Garden
Tucked behind Zilker Park, the Umlauf Sculpture Garden is peaceful, artistic, and completely unique. Its winding paths, towering trees, and bronze sculptures create a whimsical backdrop for an intimate wedding. It’s especially magical at golden hour when the light filters through the leaves.
3. Justine’s Secret House
Justine’s Secret House is one of East Austin’s best kept secrets. The French-inspired estate is perfect for couples who want an intimate, stylish dinner-party-meets-wedding vibe with some of the best food Austin has to offer. The venue can comfortably accommodate around 50 guests either inside surrounded by red walls and gorgeous art, or outside beneath twinkly lights behind the house.
4. Laguna Gloria
Art meets nature at this lakeside gem, part of The Contemporary Austin. With European villa vibes and manicured gardens, Laguna Gloria is one of the most photogenic spots in the city. Perfect for couples who want a stylish, artful celebration with just their inner circle.
5. Zilker Botanical Garden
Located near Barton Springs and Zilker Park, the Zilker Botanical Garden can be rented as a gorgeous intimate wedding venue. The garden has several different ceremony and reception sites, including the Mabel Davis Rose Garden, with varying capacities from 16 to 125 guests. The Zilker Botanical Garden is one of the most underrated spaces in Austin for both weddings and engagement photo sessions because it is breathtakingly beautiful and yet incredibly affordable and accessible.
6. Sekrit Theater
This East Austin treasure feels like you’ve stepped into another world. Known for its glass greenhouse, vintage bus, and eclectic charm, Sekrit Theater is ideal for offbeat couples who want a space with personality and endless photo ops. It’s moody, magical, and full of surprises.
7. Hummingbird House
This lush garden venue feels like a secret oasis just 20 minutes from downtown. With tropical plants, winding paths, and twinkle lights woven through the trees, Hummingbird House is romantic, relaxed, and just a little bit wild—in the best way.
8. Town Lake (Lady Bird Lake Hike & Bike Trail)
If you’re into city-meets-nature vibes, there are so many ways to make Lady Bird Lake part of your day. Lou Neff Point offers skyline views and seating for a tiny ceremony, but you can choose any overlook spot along the hike and bike trail for your ceremony. You don’t even need a permit for the ceremony, as long as you keep it casual without amplified sound or alcohol consumption.
9. Eberly
For couples who love great food, mood lighting, and urban architecture, Eberly is a dream. This South Lamar restaurant has several event spaces, including my favorite: the Study, a library-like room perfect for a candlelit dinner reception. It’s cozy, moody, and effortlessly stylish.
10. The Austin Winery
For couples who love an urban-industrial vibe with great wine to match, the Austin Winery is a standout spot for a small wedding. Located in South Austin, this working winery offers a stylish, modern space with concrete floors, string lights, and rows of oak barrels that make a stunning backdrop for both ceremonies and receptions. It’s ideal for a laid-back, design-forward celebration with your closest people—and plenty of toasting.
11. Vintage Bookstore & Wine Bar
Tucked away on East 6th, Vintage Bookstore is one of the coziest and most unique small wedding venues in Austin. With shelves of books, warm lighting, and a curated wine selection, it’s perfect for couples who want an intimate, literary-inspired celebration. The space is ideal for a small ceremony followed by toasts and conversation over a glass of something delicious. It’s charming, romantic, and effortlessly Austin.
