Growing up, I was the documentarian for my friend group – well before I knew I wanted to be a professional photographer. My camera has always been my favorite tool for creating connection and interacting with the world around me.
If you sifted through the photo albums in my childhood bedroom, you would find a lot of photos that include Kimmy. Anyone who knows Kimmy will tell you that it is a blessing. She is an exceptional human being – equal parts resilient and hardworking as she is joyful and funny. I feel so lucky to have gotten to chronicle our growing up together. So when she hired me to photograph her Christmas-themed brunch wedding, it felt like a full circle moment. A career highlight. And a reminder of why this job is so special.
When it comes to wedding trends, I always encourage couples to pick ones that feel right to them and will stand the test of time. I happen to know that Kimmy keeps her Christmas tree up year-round and will happily listen to holiday music in July, so it didn’t surprise me at all when I learned her wedding would be a Christmas-themed brunch. Kimmy and Micah’s personalities were infused in all aspects of their wedding details. The French fry bar, the custom designed espresso cart named after their two golden doodles, and the fact they wore athleisure to their reception were all tasteful incorporations of their favorite things.
